I've always wanted to go to one of the cherry blossom festivals that we have here in Georgia, but we never made time to go.
So this time when spring came around, we decided to drive to Macon to see what it was like.
But first, breakfast at J.Christopher's.
We hardly get to have brunch together because I work on Saturdays and well, on Sundays I like to sleep in.
I remember he brought me here a few years ago when we first started dating.
I've been drinking black coffee at work every morning so I had to order some with our breakfast.
No cream - only sugar please.
As always, I got the corn beef and potatoes with eggs, this time sunny side up.
And of course, had some orange juice and muffin on the side.
And for the lover boy, he got Eggs Benedict with potatoes on the side that were kind of dried up.
The drive to Macon was not an easy one. It would rain then stop and start again, and there was some traffic.
But we still had a good time talking and driving, singing songs and well for me, falling asleep.
It was interesting, driving thru some of these streets we've never been on before.
There were these two ladies in the middle of the road asking for money, and well I'm not one who really judges people,
but you can tell that they were on drugs, and it was pretty sad. I wore my sunglasses because I didn't want to make eye contact.
Anyways, he stopped by a gas station because he needed the restroom and when he came out,
he brought me my favorite Arizona tea and some candy.
We finally made it after about a two hour drive. It was raining all morning,
but thank god by the time we arrived at the park, the rain had completed stopped.
As soon as we entered the park, we saw this cute little camel.
He looked so happy even if he was all wet.
We went to a carnival a few months ago, and even there they had this same ride.
Those poor babies looked miserable, like they hated their lives.
That reminds me - I found a wallet on the floor.
I saw this asian man with a stroller, waiting for his wife to come out of the restroom.
I had to go too, so I went and when I came out, on the grass I saw a wallet with an ID on the front.
I looked at it and it was the same man from earlier.
I turned around and he was sitting closer to the restroom,
so I went up to him and asked him if this was his, and he looked so surprised,
didn't even know he lost it, and thanked me.
I loved walking around the park, just seeing people and being able to see some tigers.
We didn't stick around for the whole show, but we did stand there for a few minutes, and wow, they were huge.
I didn't get any pictures with my camera - because I was too busy recording the show with my phone.
We walked around an area where there were a bunch of cherry blossom trees.
Of course I had to stop and take a few pictures. I didn't get all crazy like some of the people there,
but just took a few snaps.
I was expecting there to be way more cherry blossom trees, because well - the festival is named Cherry Blossom Festival.
But there were only a few, and most of them were balding.
After taking a few pictures, I wanted a corn dog so we walked to nearest stand and got a corndog with some lemonade.
The lemonade was so good that we went back for a refill.
Afterwards, we walked towards the other side of the park. He wanted some boiled peanuts
and I remembered seeing them as we came in, so we walked towards that direction.
He loves peanuts and I guess he was really craving them because he wanted to get a large.
But good thing we saw a lady ahead of us get a large one, because it was way too huge.
We opted for a small one and that was still pretty big, but he was able to finish it.
We sat at some tables and while he was busy cracking open the peanuts and feeding them to me,
I watched some group of older ladies dance on the stage - it was pretty cute.
I was surprised they were selling beer because normally, at carnivals they don't any type of alcohol. Anyways, he got a large Miller Lite i
n this pink mug so that I can take it home and use it.
After finishing the beer, we walked around a bit more and decided to head back home. At that point, we've been there for about 2 hours,
and the long drive got us pretty tired.
While driving home, we talked about this and that. And of course, dinner came up. We decided to cook chicken noodle soup at home.
He loves cooking new things, just last week he cooked beef stew and it was amazing.
We stopped by the store on the way home and bought the things we needed.
I prepped the vegetables while he got the base and noodles ready.
It was so good, tasted better than store bought ones.
He always makes a lot when he cooks, but I love that because I'm able to eat it the next day as well.
A Saturday well spent because of you. Thank you~
