My sister decided to surprise this past week and visited Georgia for a few days! My boyfriend and room mates were in on it, but I absolutely had no idea. I was so happy that she visited even if it was only for a few days. On the first night she arrived we decided to have dinner at Shoya Izakaya which is a Japanese 'Tapas Style' restaurant located in Doraville.
We definitely cannot leave out some sort of alcohol on a Saturday night, so we decided to order the beer tower, which served a bit over 10 cups. When the waiter was bringing it to our table, everyone near us was looking at our table.
We ordered a bunch of dishes, since each dish only had a few pieces on it. The picture above was the tomato & bacon skewer which was really good. The bacon was crispy while the tomato was really juicy.
The other skewer we decided to order was the chicken & garlic which in my opinion tasted better than the first one. There were a few pieces of garlic on the skewer that went perfectly with the chicken.
Of course if you come to eat at a Japanese restaurant you need to try their ramen. We chose to share the Tan Tan ramen which was made with spicy chicken broth and ground pork. Looks are deceiving because the ramen wasn't as spicy as it looked.
Boyfriend was craving some gyoza so we ordered a plate of it as well. There wasn't anything special about them but the dipping sauce was really good and went well with the cabbage.
Okonomiyaki was the first dish that we ordered which I would recommend that you do because this takes about 30 minutes to be served. The thickness of this pancake is ridiculous which made me understand why it took so long to come out. This was the last thing we ate, but by the time it was served we were already too full so we weren't able to finish it.
But overall, the ambiance and service was pretty good and the food was tasty as well. I know I'll definitely be back!
